Martina Pippal lives and works as an artist and art historian in Vienna and New York. Grown up in the Viennese studio of her parents, the painter Hans Robert Pippal and the architect Eugenie Pippal-Kottnig, she early acquired skills in the artistic fields of painting, mosaics, textiles, enameling, etc. Then, by studying art history, history, archeology and theology she expanded her interest in the background conditions of artistic production. In all her subsequent teaching at the University of Vienna and abroad, multiple publications as well as her practice-inspired teaching, Martina Pippal always finds a synthesis of all her experiences. Since her postdoctoral lecture qualification she has placed more emphasis upon her creative work, mainly paintings and ceramics. „Regensburg I“ testifies to Martina Pippal’s extensive theoretical knowledge, her trained eye for motifs and masterly realization.
