The regulators called „Laterndluhr“ are considered as the highlight of Viennese horology. The unique shape of the cases (cubic cases around the movement and pendulum bob; narrow case around the pendulum rod) reminds of the street lights of the time. Therefore they got their name “Laterndluhr” (“street light clock”). The cases have large areas of glass to show the high quality movements and to save precious mahogany veneer. At the time, the precision of these Viennese regulators was on an international level almost unsurpassable and made the Austrian clockmakers known worldwide.
