This carriage clock with lion figurines was made in Vienna during the early 19th century. The ormolu case has a base with palmette moulding and bun feet. Two reclining lions in matt and gloss gilding are mounted on the base. On their backs they carry the engine turned case drum with shell shaped handle. The dial with roman numerals is also decorated with guilloches. The movement with verge escapement has a Viennese grande sonnerie on wire gongs, a repeater and a turn-off for the strike as well as an alarm on bell.
