The sculpture “Rise and Shine” – a dynamic female figure stretching toward the sky with arms wide open – conveys in a particularly compelling manner the fundamentally optimistic life philosophy of sculptor Yanni Souvatzoglou. Yanni considers himself a Symbolist artist. One of the central themes of his work is the figurative representation of abstract emotions and states of mind. His creations are imbued with a profound sense of joy, hope, and affirmation of life.
Regarding “Rise and Shine”, Yanni himself has remarked: “The sculpture illustrates the significance of each day as a new beginning – an opportunity to awaken and embrace the possibilities our world offers us. We must open our arms, our minds, and our hearts to the positive energy that surrounds us. We should become the sunshine of our own lives; every morning we awaken, we have the chance to let our light shine and illuminate our personal universe.”
The Greek sculptor Yanni Souvatzoglou draws inspiration from the symbolic expressive power of ancient sculpture, particularly Cycladic, Minoan, and Etruscan art. Humanity stands at the center of his oeuvre, which is rich in symbolism and layered meaning. Exhibitions on every continent attest to Yanni’s international presence and remarkable artistic achievement, including Johannesburg, South Africa (1968); Southport, England (1986); TEFAF/KWArt Group, Maastricht, Netherlands (1994); Rio de Janeiro, Brazil (1996); Tokyo, Japan (1997); and Hyannis, Massachusetts, USA (1997).
