The Greek sculptor Yanni Souvatzoglou explores the representational, figurative depiction of abstract emotions and states of mind. He considers himself a Symbolist artist – his sculptures are personifications of an entirely positive philosophy of life.
Yanni Souvatzoglou draws his inspiration from the symbolic expressive power of ancient sculpture, particularly Cycladic, Minoan, and Etruscan art. His oeuvre places the human figure at its center and is rich in symbolism. Exhibitions on all continents highlight Yanni’s international presence and remarkable artistic skill, including, among others: 1968 Johannesburg (South Africa), 1986 Southport (England), 1994 TEFAF/KWArt Group, Maastricht (Netherlands), 1996 Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), 1997 Tokyo (Japan), and 1997 Hyannis, Massachusetts (USA).
„Looking in the Future“ embodies Yanni’s hopeful worldview and his unwavering confidence in the future. The sculptor describes this work as „a constant reminder that life can present challenges at any time. It is therefore important to remain alert to new opportunities and to seize them.“ The slender male figure directs his gaze intently into the distance, shielding his eyes with his hands from any distraction. The sharply bent arms, which frame the head in a diamond-like shape, create a geometrization of the human silhouette and a sense of balanced composure within the sculpture.
