Joseph Elsner was a clockmaker and astronomer and is regarded as one of the most important manufacturers of the world-famous Viennese precision clocks. Two of his signature features are the special central fastening of the movement and the large setscrews for adjusting the movement inside the case, which are also an aesthetically appealing element.
