We assume that “St. Baolo in Welsch-Tyrol” is the Hermitage of San Paolo on the north shore of Lake Garda. Welsch Tyrol is an old name for the Northern Italian province of Trentino. The picturesque idyllic landscape with waterfall, lake, mountain range and ruins are probably an idealized essence of the most beautiful parts of this wonderful region on the shores of Lake Garda created in the workshop of the famous picture clock painter.
