The figural clock with cupid riding on a lion symbolizes the victory of love even over the most powerful opponent (amor vincit omnia – love defeats everything).
This special Viennese clock carved in lime wood was made in the first quarter of the 19th century and is silvered and gilt. The base is partly ebonized and polished. The movement has an anchor escapement and an half hour strike on wire gong. The automaton (moving eyes) is coupled with the movement.
