The lavish engine turned ormolu case impresses with its splendor. The elegant oval pedestal holds the round clock drum, supported by two cornucopias (symbol of luck, wealth and abundance). In the background supports an elaborately gilt bronze lyre (symbol of the poets and thinkers or also of dance and singing) the clock drum. The clock crest is an oil lamp with four snakes as handle. The movement with anchor escapement is equipped with a Viennese grande sonnerie on wire gongs, a repeater and a turn-off for strike.
