This Empire carriage clock was made in Vienna in the first quarter of the 19th century. The particularly fine engine turned and fire-gilt drum is carried by two mythical creatures with goat heads and rests on a four-sided engine turned and fire-gilt hollow-base with palmettes and stars. The dial also shows a particularly fine executed engine turning and fire-gilding. In harmonic contrast, the dial ring is made of enamel. The movement is driven by a verge escapement, has a Viennese grande sonnerie on wire gongs, a repeater and an alarm on bell. The original leather case has been preserved.
